THOMAS, JASON & ELLEN

As a teenager, Jason started going to the First Baptist Church of Lawtey, Florida through their bus ministry. At the age of sixteen, God convicted him that he was lost, and he called on Him to be saved. Then at the age of eighteen, Jason surrendered to God’s call to preach. While in Bible College, the Lord dealt with him about missions and he surrendered to go wherever God would lead him. In 1998, he took a mission’s trip to Jiménez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and he saw the great need of the Gospel there. After a two-month long visit to Mexico that same year, the Lord confirmed His calling on Jason’s life to serve there as a missionary.

Ellen was born and raised in North Augusta, South Carolina. She grew up in a Christian home, but it was not until 1999 that she was saved and dedicated her life fully to serve the Lord. She served for six years as a Christian school teacher at Victory Christian School, teaching English and Spanish in the high school. She and Jason met in May of 1999 at Victory Baptist Church. In August of that year, Ellen had the opportunity to visit the mission field and to see for herself the area of Mexico where they would be serving the Lord. God confirmed in her heart that He would bless their lives together on the mission field as they surrendered fully to Him.

Jason and Ellen were married in April of 2000, and after two years of raising support, they moved to Jiménez, Chihuahua, to serve the Lord. While working with La Fe Ministries, under the leadership of the Ashcraft family, they received training in the language and became better acquainted with the culture.

Since 2004, Jason and Ellen have had the honor and privilege to work along with other missionary families in establishing Bible based churches. In 2004, after helping Brother Randy Ashcraft start Victory Baptist Church in Parral, Chihuahua, Jason was given the opportunity to continue with the new church as missionary-pastor. After serving there for eight years, the church was turned over to a national pastor. Then in 2014, after much prayer, the Lord led Jason and Ellen to Mérida, Yucatán and He put them together with the families of Bro. Danny Ward and Bro. Jared Miskovic to start Resurrection Baptist Church. In 2022, God led Jason and Ellen to start Cornerstone Baptist Church in an unreached area of Mérida.

Since the Summer of 2022, in addition to serving in Mexico, Jason and Ellen have had the privilege to serve as BMFP field administrators for Latin America and the Caribbean. They are excited to see what the Lord will do next in the ministry. Please pray that God will be honored and glorified through their service of reaching others with the Gospel of Christ.
