Brian Thiessen and his wife, Cindy, have served as Canadian Field Administrators with BMFP since November 2017. Prior to that, Brian was involved in pastoral ministry for just over 30 years. During that time, he planted two Canadian churches, served as an associate pastor briefly and as Senior Pastor for 27 years. His last pastorate was at the Mississauga International Baptist Church in Mississauga, Ontario where he pastored for 20 years. He and his wife are both graduates of Maranatha Baptist Bible College (1986). Bro. Thiessen is also the recipient of two honorary doctorates.

Brian was saved under the preaching of Evangelist B. R. Lakin in 1977. Cindy grew up in a pastor’s home in central Illinois and was saved at the age of nine. The Thiessens have been married since 1987 and are the parents of six children, and grandparents of three.

Their partnership with BMFP began in 1997 when they attended Candidate Training and were appointed as the first Canadian missionaries with BMFP. Brian also served for many years on the Canadian board, and since 2002 on the USA board of BMFP.

In his current role as Canadian Field Administrator, Bro. Thiessen’s stated purpose is to help “Establish, Equip and Encourage” the next generation of Canadian church planters, pastors and missionaries. In the past five years the Thiessens have seen seven Canadian missionary units added to the BMFP family. In 2023 Brian was also given the role of Internship Field Administrator. This involves the development of programs that offer and encourage participation in short-term missions’ experiences with a view to full-time involvement in missions.

Brian is an avid reader and writer who enjoys woodworking and the occasional round of golf. Cindy loves missionary wives and their families. She is interested in good nutrition and delights in spending time in the garden. Both are passionate about their children and grandchildren.

The Thiessens currently live in Windsor, ON, Canada and are available for missions conferences, church planting emphasis, evangelistic meetings and family retreats.
